Calorie Posting Law Update

The New York Times came out with an article today called "Calorie Postings Don't Change Habits, Study Finds". It reports that:

A study of New York City’s pioneering law on posting calories in restaurant chains suggests that when it comes to deciding what to order, people’s stomachs are more powerful than their brains.

Funny, that's what I said. :)

  1. I completely agree with this post. Nine times out of ten, hungry people are not going to spend time counting calories before every meal. The only time I've ever glanced at a calorie list at a restaurant is at Subway because they put it on all of their napkins! Therefore, it's kind of hard to miss. Plus, if people are truly trying to eat healthy, they most likely will be cooking their own meals at home.

  2. I honestly think that it is all about balance. I'm not extremely thin, but I could kill a man with my right calve...

I am addicted to dark chocolate and red wine. I had a few beers with an old friend Saturday night before the marathon Sunday. (These guys asked to buy us drinks, and I was like ehh.. I'm running 26 miles at 7:30 am but thanks!)

Why do we have to measure in calories. The Weight Watchers points system has proven to work miracles with enough dedication.

It would be more helpful if society built an understanding of points. Can we get the overweight American everyone is so worried about to say, "I ate a Big Mac for lunch today. That was my treat for a few days. I'll walk to work and eat something healthy for dinner."
Also, speaking over government and food I think they should pass the soda tax because pop is so many empty calories that people do not need.
